Oasis + VOH: Malawi
Oasis is excited to partner with Village of Hope: Malawi in their outreach to orphans and vulnerable children in Lilongwe, Malawi. Over the coming years we will have the opportunity to sponsor children, support expansion projects that will benefit the children and their community, and provide financial support, prayers, and encouragement to Canadian missionaries Jef and Renatta Walton and their family.
You may not be the one to cross the globe and work in a foreign country, but your generosity and your prayers can allow those who do to thrive. Your involvement will stretch your faith, and it will touch the lives of some of the poorest people in the world.
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these… you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40
THE VOH MISSION
is to bring lasting hope to orphans and vulnerable children throughout Africa by providing them with emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual and loving care so they can embrace adulthood as contributing members of society.
THE VOH VISION
is that all children are loved and cared for.
About VOH: Africa
Villages of Hope: Africa (VOH: Africa) is a registered Canadian charity that brings hope to children in need throughout Africa. They currently have 10 villages located in 5 countries.
About VOH: Malawi
Village of Hope: Malawi cares for orphans and vulnerable children and their families by providing free education, health care, a feeding program, and spiritual discipleship.
They are located on the outskirts of the capital city of Lilongwe in an area called Kauma.
VOH: Malawi works with a team of local community leaders (chiefs, elders, pastors, and others) to identify the most vulnerable children in Kauma. Currently they care for nearly 300 students from baby class (pre-school) to standard 3 (grade 3).
Long Term Goals
VOH: Malawi continues to develop a full 3+ acre site where they plan to ultimately build a full pre-school – grade 12 school. In May 2020 they completed construction of a double school block for pre-school children! This adds to the two school blocks that are currently on site for students in grades 1-3.
Thanks to your generous giving VOH: Malawi now has the funds they need to build their administration block, where staff will have a safe place to work on site. Construction on this project will start once government restrictions due to COVID-19 are lifted. There is also an ablution (bathroom) block under construction, though this has been paused due to COVID-19.
Future plans include more classrooms, a health care clinic, a kitchen for expanding the feeding program, a community hall and a levelled soccer pitch.
