Serving Teams

areas at Oasis

The Bible says: “It was He (Jesus) who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith" (Ephesians 4:11–13).

At Oasis we believe that every member is a minister (a servant). Serving is using whatever God has given us to serve him and the needs of others.

We serve in 3 directions: to God, to other Christ-followers, and to people who do not have a relationship with God.

The goals of our serving teams are to glorify God, to help others grow, and to grow ourselves. Here are a few serving opportunities for you to consider at Oasis.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

The children’s ministry teams focus on kids from Babies – Pre-K (Waumba Land) and K – 5th Grade (UpStreet). These teams provide creative learning adventures to help kids experience more of God. Our team is divided into multiple sections to encourage learning for all ages.  There's always a need for people who love kids! Training is provided to ensure that a safe and happy environment is created every week!

STUDENT MINISTRY

The Student Ministry Teams exist to provide an open and safe place for students in grades 6–8 (Collide - Friday nights) and 9–12 (InsideOut - Sunday nights) to grow in their love for God and for one another in a fun and relevant environment. Team involvement may include: investing in students' lives, leading small groups, participating in weekly and annual events, making meals, teaching God's Word, helping on the safety team, checking students in, band and tech team.

YOUNG ADULTS

The Living Room is for 18-25(ish) year olds with the purpose of leading young adults into a growing relationship with Jesus. They meet on Thursday nights with dinner, teaching, and time for life groups to connect, every Thursday evening provides an opportunity for young adults to grow in their love for God and for one another in a fun and relevant environment. Team involvement may include: leading small groups, greeting, safety team, making meals, or helping in the kitchen.

ADMINISTRATION TEAMS

Office Administration

The opportunities to help with office support are nearly endless: filing, sorting, stuffing, copying, collating, stocking, data entry, typing, spreadsheets, writing, editing, researching, interviewing, project management – just to name a few!  Flexible hours at all times during the week are available to fit your schedule.

Finance

The Finance Ministry Team oversees all the financial aspects of Oasis: recording, reporting, receipts, payment of bills and budgeting.

PROGRAMMING & PRODUCTION TEAMS

Audio, Visual Teams

This team has a passion for God’s Word to be heard with clarity, and to be presented with colour and motion in many of our environments! If you are interested in sound systems, lighting or visual presentation then this may be the place for you.

Graphics, Photography, and Web Team

The Graphics, Photography, and Web Team coordinate basically anything visual. If you are interested in graphic design, the production arts, photography, or web development then this may be the team for you.

Music Team

The Music Team leads us through song as we offer praise to God and declare what we believe. Many of our environments include music and we would love to add to these teams.

Stage Hands

These people move platforms and props on and off the stage quickly and quietly on Sunday mornings, ensuring smooth transitions happen and the rest of the stage is set up for success.

PROPERTY MAINTENANCE TEAMS

The Property Management Team provides maintenance and improvement to our building and grounds. They are the “behind the scenes” crew. Painting, cleaning, fixing, and building projects are just some of the things needed to be done. Flexible hours at all times during the week are available to fit your schedule.

HOST TEAMS

Parking

This Team provides the first impression of Oasis as a service-minded, organized place while helping attendees to find convenient parking.

Greeting

The Greeting Team provides a smiling face, a warm handshake, and a friendly welcome to make people feel at home at Oasis - while also acting as a quick information reference for first-time guests.

Refreshments

The Coffee Team serves the church family by maintaining a popular gathering spot in the church—the coffee bar. Each week they set up, keep the coffee percolating, and clean up.

Guest Services

The Guest Service Team exists to answer questions and connect with first-time attendees. They operate the information table while warmly welcoming and answering the questions of first-time attendees to Oasis.

Book Store

Nothing matters more than your personal, intimate relationship with God. So, we have made some excellent resources available at each Oasis service – all centered on growing in intimacy with God. Volunteers on this team help guide people based on the topic to various books and then facilitate the sale of the books.

COMMUNITY CARE TEAMS

Life Group Leadership

Each life group has a leader (or a team of leaders) who facilitate the group meetings, teaching, and the care for group members. There is also room for leaders in training.

Pastoral Care Team

The Pastoral Care Team helps extend the love, comfort, and compassion of Jesus Christ to those admitted to the hospital or confined in their homes by illness. This team also offers counseling - a caring response to personal, marital, or family needs based on the Christian understanding of giving ourselves to our neighbours.

Prayer Team

The Prayer Team encourages the prayer life of Oasis - making dependence on God through talking to Him foundational to our church. The Prayer Team organizes Sunday morning prayer, leads occasional prayer-focused events, and prays for any needs that are brought to the church.

Pre-Marriage Mentor

Oasis encourages engaged couples to go through a multi-week course where they are equipped with tools for married life. Mentoring isn’t for everyone but if you feel you may be equipped for this then this team might be for you.

OTHER TEAMS

Church Online Hosts

Church Online Hosts engage our online community during our live stream services in three powerful ways: by welcoming each and every guest, by connecting with people through casual conversation and discussion about the message, and praying for our guests. If you enjoy meeting new people and participating in the online experience, give online hosting a try!

Meal Team

One of the ways our church family supports people in times of need is by supplying meals. If you enjoy the culinary arts this may be just the team for you!

Baking Team

Every Sunday, our kids, music, and host team volunteers arrive early with incredible energy and passion, and we like to thank them by providing a few sweet and savoury treats.

Set Up & Tear Down Team

To make the most of our space, we set up the Waumba Land and UpStreet rooms each week and pack up in preparation for InsideOut, our Sunday night student ministry. To do this, we have two teams: The Set Up Team and the Tear Down Team. If you love helping volunteers start their Sunday off right or enjoy making everything look tidy at the end of the day, these teams would be a great fit for you!

Funeral & Celebration of Life Team
This team would be called upon, if available, to serve the church by setting up for, hosting, and cleaning up after funerals held at Oasis. Set up happens the day before the funeral. Responsibilities on the day of the funeral include making coffee and filling food trays before and after the service, as well as clean up following the service.

Safety Team

This team is designed to help keep our Church safe while creating a safe feeling environment at the same time for guests and regular attendees. If you have a background in security, law enforcement, health care, military etc. then we want you to join this team!
